New to the site guys but must say, looks pretty damn nice.

I am in the market for a Scar-L and am torn between the VFC Scar-L AEG and the WE Scar GBB Gen III.

I love the realistic firing and functionality of the WE Scar but I have read some horrible reviews on it (part failure, paint chipping, etc.). I am not sure if these issues were resolved with the Gen III???

Everything I read on the VFC Scar-L is great. Although, it is obviously not as realistic as the WE in function; it looks far more realistic in appearance.

What are you guys' thoughts - the AEG or GBB and why???

Thanks in advance for the help.

vfc because its an easier gun to maintain and gbb mags for m4s run you about 40 to 50 a piece off most sites

aeg scars will be more reliable in the long run. VFC is a bitch, thier parts are non compatible with other brands so upgrades and replacements are few and far between.

Hope you haven't made a hasty decision yet.

I owned a WE SCAR and while it is nice, it is not practical skirmishing and you really have to be dedicated to troubleshoot as you're almost on your own.

I've also owned Dboys/Echo SCAR and it is a piece of crap.

VFCs are nice but the internals have annoying brittle pieces that are hard to work with.

The G&G SCARs are the best SCARs on the market as far as externals and internals value. They can be had for about $330 which isn't too bad. My good friend has one and loves it.

Oh, and the GEN 3 thing is not WE's gen. It is the type of SCAR.

Echo/Dboys SCARs are a GEN 2. They have a fatter stock.

G&G SCAR is a GEN 3 and is narrower. Two very nice additions of the G&G is that it has a metal connector system that hides the wires when folding the stock unlike the Echo/cheaper crap. The second nice addition is a working bolt lock.

I too own a Dboys Scar L. Out of the box it had minor issues but anyone who has handled it, or that has been shot by it will testify that it is not a piece of crap. I found 2 issues with mine. One was the hop up. I replaced the hop up unit with a CA hop up. The second was the stock. I replaced the stock screws with phillips head screws I got from home depot for about 18 cents. Teflon taped them and tightened them. You can now beat someone to death with the gun. Outside of that, all i added was a tight bore, and dremelled out the stock a bit to fit a larger battery. I am very happy with this purchase considering what was spent on it (under $200 after all mods). Compare that to $400 on a VFC.

You're certainly titled to your own opinion but let's compare it to a $320 G&G one.

First Dboys SCARs seem to have bad luck with their tappet plates breaking. 3 of the 3 people I know who's had one (including me) has had their tappet plate break on them within 2 months. Mine broke before I even put 1500 rounds into the damn thing. Are all Dboys scars like this? No. The real question for anyone considering one is do you have $200 to throw at it knowing you have a good chance of receiving a lemon?

For that 120 extra, you get aluminum metal (no pot metal here!), strong nylon fiber body, superior battery mechanism that doesn't expose the wires when folding stock (no more worrying about pinching wires!), much thicker shell, 8mm oiless gears, a faster motor, a 45day(? may be 30) warranty, bolt catch, and more.

There's people who still would prefer Dboys and that's fine. People are always going to have different opinions. The op wanted opinions and I gave him mine. Spend the extra money, be safe, get a better product, and have fun. In my opinion and experience, the Dboys has been crap.

i would definitely go with the VFC. i think GBBRs are overated. plus, as far as i know, the WE scars only have 30 round mags. and spare mags go for around $35. plus the cost of gas. dont take my word entirely. i dont have either one but i almost bought a WE scar. VFC makes the best scar though. its also the most expensive too.

WE GBB SCAR is not worth your cash. It will hinder you on the battlefield and is a pain off the field. I had one....never fielded it because i realized how truely impractical it was. 30rd mags each of which cost 35-40 bucks and have to each be filled with gas every time....no thanks. I would find a cost effective AEG SCAR, the VFC is nice but very steep in price i mean 400-450 you could just buy a D-boys Scar and drop a performance GB in the thing for that price...though i have never had experience with the VFC so...yeah.

Dear lord this thread is fucked 12 ways to sunday.

Wrong. You're thinking of the Dboys SCAR, which has proprietary parts. The VFC uses standard V2 internals (IE: you can drop in an M4 GB) If you want to retain the ambi selector, you need to drop in the SCAR selector plate and drill a hole for a pin to go through. My VFC SCAR had almost everything internally replaced in it.

I've worked on 2 dboys SCARs. What piece of shit. They're nice until you get the VFC, then you see it as a massive POS. The hop ups are decent, but the VFC completely blows it out of the water.

The point is: buy once, cry once. When you break that air nozzle or your selector on your Dboys/AGM/Echo1, you. are. fucked. Good luck trying to find one. With the VFC, you waddle down stairs, grab your spare parts box you have for your M4, and replace the parts.

So its nice and all that you guys are still giving suggestions on a gun that the op most likely bought about 7 months ago.... but i think enough is enough here, this thread was started at the beginning of the year

these kind of treads its still ok to post in! Because the person who bought this gun may have bought it a while ago but some new kids looking at SCARS may find this tread helpful. Its better than starting a new one
