I have had the gun for a few weeks now. I ran it at Resident Eval and have put over 1500 rounds through it now without appreciable wear.
The gun is solid, and performs well, .25s at 340fps with 134a gas. Keep in mind the gun stock is designed for 134a and NOT the higher pressure green-gas.
That being said I spent a lot of time on www.gasguns.info (http://www.gasguns.info) reading about the gun and issues with it. In the reviews section is an EXCELLENT article about the top 10 issues with the gun and how to make sure they don't happen, or how to fix simply.
I have ordered 2 setof all the small cheap "wearable" parts for the gun, as well as a G&P hopup unit to improve performance a bit, and an NPAS bolt assembly to run green-gas to make it able to run closer to field limits for skirmishing. But that last part is expensive and not really "needed" per-se.
My advice:
clean the gun top to bottom and inside out when you get it. Take ALL the old oil off and re-lube everything properly wiping excess off. I had a full rag of black grime when I was done. And don't get me started on the barrel grime.
Only use 134a, PERIOD unless you are spending the $300 to upgrade it for green/propane. You _WILL_ break something its a matter of time if you ignore this.
Order a few nozzles, an extra bolt catch, sear plate, etc (these are all <$10 parts) hop-rubber, etc to have on hand in case you are rolling full-auto and it jams and something gives. Keep in mind wearing out parts is nautral on GBBs like this given the action and moving parts. Having $50 in spares lying around is a wise idea. Otherwise you will have to wait a week or two for a stupid $5 part.. which obviously sucks.
Don't BB Hose these guns. Expanding gas is cold and you can freeze part or force expansion due to extreme cold. If you want to fire 5-10 round bursts ok.. dump a 50rnd mag and then another... you could run into problems. These guns are for precision shooters not wannabe SAW gunners.
Hit the gym. Mags for these guns when loaded weigh more than most pistols so carrying 6 spares like I did at Resident Eval is packing an extra 20lbs or more of magazines (its kind of like the real world..)
In summary: This gun and guns like it are made for precision shooters seeking more realism, not pray and sprayers, or they are "cool toys" for regular AEG users to use on occasion.
Making a GBB rifle your main gun will DEFINATELY change how you play airsoft. The tips and tricks taught at MSATO gunfighter would be very useful in terms of improving accuracy and putting kill shots on target, in my opinion a good thing. I should note that due to changes in the internals these guys with green-gas can be accurate past 200ft which is also a game changer.
