View Full Version : Advice on taking a large-springed gun apart

I own a bolt-action spring gun, and I am interested in checking out the area between the 6mm barrel and the outside barrel. I have a feeling that its variable accuracy has to do with over-oiled spacers and such, as I read in a review of this gun from someone who took it apart. My problem is that I don't know how safe it is to decompress the spring, and whether it will be possible to put back together without some heavy duty tools.

Lots of people have looked at this thread, but nobody has replied. Does nobody know about springs?!

I realize now that it may help you people to know what kind it is. It is a Leapers "UTG" Shadow Ops Sniper, looks like an L96. I think that I may have actually found the problem, (which was that the hop-up was too damn high when I got it, and I didn't check it. Then, the minimum setting was too powerful, and so I just bought heavier rounds and plan on adjusting the hop and scope so that it will shoot straight) but I would like to know about taking things apart anyway.

what weight bb's were you using and which weight did you just get?
this might sound retarded but, to decompress the spring all you need to do is PULL THE TRIGGER!!!

I was using .2g, which always curved up, and now I will use .28g, which I hope will be able to be fired straight.

That does sound retarded. I'm talking about taking it apart, as the thread title says.
well if you plan to take it apart, well i don't know what you want to do with it, they are almost impossible to upgrade, i suggest getting a sniper rifle that can be upgraded such as a vsr10 or or CA M24

How are they "almost impossible to upgrade"? Are there no upgrade parts for it, or is it difficult to mess with?
no parts, and parts that could work need heavy modification to work, but don't get me wrong, the gun stock isn't too shaby, its the same l96 as all th other chineese brands and there not that bad stock, you just gotta use the right ammo and take care of the hop up, try using 23s or 25s

Would .28g rounds be too heavy?
nope. they will be fine, but if you go to heavy it will decrease the range, so you gotta kinda find the sweet spot and what bbs work for you, my buddy has one and he uses 25s.

Though I now understand that there is no real point in taking it apart, I would still like to know if it is easy. I once took a CO2 pistol apart, and it took a long time to get a big spring into position for me to actually have it back together. I believe that it is correctly assembled, but I wouldn't want to have that happen to me again without some knowledge of how the rifle is disassembled.
