Corsair has a home field! this is not yet perfected and will still need some modification, but we have permission from the owners to play there. the area includes: old structures, grass fields, and woods. the area is aprox. 7 acres of land. pics will be up by monday.

The terrain stretches from open grasslands to dense woods, run through by roads and a series of long abandoned greenhouses. As soon as my computer's back online I'll post a google Earth top view.

I'll bring what I can...off to dumpster diving.
Irish
10-23-2007, 07:17 PM
no junk though please. lets try and make the most of whats already there. wood is fine though i think

Don't condemn junk just yet, that whole damn fortress started off as metal scaffolding and a pile of plastic sheets. Anyhow, we may make it a combination build/movement training, just to make the most of our time. We should also try to clean up some of the nails and glass, since trying to do any sort of acrobatics will just result in a thorough flaying.
Irish
10-23-2007, 09:03 PM
but at least we should keep it even. we shouldnt be bringing in more junk then there already is...

oh aight... thats good. we should make some bunkers. and fox holes. and trenches in certain places... yea this is gonna be fun

Let's not overdo it, it definately needs some clearing and reinforcement in some areas, but we shouldnt go turning the entire thing into a trench complex. Remember, even across any style of fighting. We want snipers to be just as effective as shotguns, just in different areas. Balance the field out, but keep a well-stocked midpoint for asymmetric games.
Irish
10-24-2007, 07:18 PM
of course, just some trenches in certain key points.
longbow
10-24-2007, 07:33 PM
got that. we'll meet up around 3-4ish depending on when everyone else gets out. we'll clean, train, and then go have Wendys.

Quick Update:
Kilo, Killjoy, Desolation, Ecii, Hilary and I went to build up and clean up the area on saturday. Some random people had destroyed about 70% of our stuff, so we had to waste some time on rebuilting what had already been built, but this time reinforcing it extensively, especially in the back of the fortress. We also removed a bunch of junk and several crates worth of broken glass, but the area is still by no means a playground. The field is balanced how it was in the second attack/defend game on the fourteenth, with the defenders having more vsibility and cover but also with some additional options for the attackers.
The Op Center is also in the process of being cleaned out to provide a secondary structure for stackup/entrance training and some CQB-ish skirmishes. The path between the two is now fortified as well, making the op center a more balanced starting point in symetrical games.
Irish, sorta surprised you didn't show, but I'm sure there were reasons.
All in all, we got a ****load done, but we still have a lot to do before this place can call itself an airsoft field.
Irish

yea, there were reasons. i talked to longbow about it, he'll explain. i really want to do another one. this sunday??
Just a little curious here, pardon the intrusion, but why would you clean up your playing area? It's supposed to be a warzone, not a gentlemen's club...
longbow
10-29-2007, 07:27 AM
it was warlike, but after crawling under a hobo bed and ito a cbinet filled with an even coat of broken glass i decided i was going to clean up some of the haz-mat.
I don't know about you but I don't like the idea of falling on broken glass or rusted out screws at ever corner. It really was a death trap. Now it is just a trap!

sounds like the farmhouse originally, minus the 1000 lbs of poop which we cleaned up

Yeah, it still looks like a warzone, and is still incredibly hazardous to your health. Inhaling fiberglass insulation just wasn't the most entertaining of experiences.

I didn't officially hear anything, but did give a few people (anyone who's reading this) permission to go down and do some work. I probably won't be able to go due to colossal amounts of schoolwork. Anyhow, there are a few conditions:
-Do not make changes to any of the larger structures aside from removing small debris/cleaning/etc.
-Do not pound any of the poles in, simply dig them up. If there are any remaining up immediately before the next game we will pound them, but until then its better to get rid of them for good.
-Do not heap trash anywhere other than trash bins or the crap shack.
-Do not bring any MORE crap onto the field, unless its a perfect piece of cover you're sure you can use.
It may seem a little harsh, but its just to ensure Longbow and I can keep tabs on whats going on and keep the field balanced. Other than that, good luck. I'm looking forward to seeing what's been done.

ok, here is what we did on build day.... sorry, but we pounded in the small pipes that were rusty and an immediate threat, they are far down and covered in dirt. I would've shoveled them out, but my shovel broke off from the handle and also another one was almost rusted off by the shovel head. we had an abundance of sledge hammers so we did the best thing we could and pounded them in... no problem. a second thing we did is made a flippin sweet path above the north road. i know you were also against that, but it seemed like too good of an idea to pass up. we also made a "gook system", which is an elaborite system composed of punji pits, swinging balls, tunnels, and sneaky paths. the location is to be reserved for the VC aka locals. oh yeah, the fucking hippies completely destroyed the base, but we didnt fix it. unfortunately there were only 4 of us who worked on the field because people can show up to play, but cannot work

I saw the shovel carnage today, no worries you did what you did, looks good and safe. Saw the path, looks good i think we should use some flagging to make sure people don't get to far up into that houses' property. base looked about the same as the last time I was there. looks good thanks for the help.

The hidden path aka gook system is amazing. I would like to make more path systems if posible. Especially connecting the pond to the path leading to the burnt out RV, and some around the ops center.
The Gook System worked quite well in attack and defend. Had no problem infiltrating the base via the paths. Also had no problem defending the base from the paths. If you know what you're doing, you're at no advantage or disadvantage on either side. I just hope we can keep a few of the paths a local secret.

I'll take you on a walk before a game, there is a path that circumnavigates the pond. a path on the south road into those thickets would be optimal.

Cam, are you talking to me?
If so, that isn't needed. I helped build the paths...
longbow
05-12-2008, 08:16 PM
yes I was talking to you. (that isn't intended as nasty)
Last time I was there Desolate, Sausage, and I improved the path that you and jake had. I'm not sure how far around the pond you guys got, I lightly blazed around so that it will spit you out behind the enterence to the pond. I like the VC style we're adding to the field. keep it up.

As much as the strategist in me loves the idea of nasty tricks to pull on invading players, the event runner in me hopes they find them and don't feel like we're trying to cheat them out of a fair game.
Nasty surprises in the forms of claymore mines, however, may be implemented.
Say, I just recalled that there's a thread specifically for the field. This discussion will be moved there presently.

Don't really know where to ask this since the skirmish zone is a closed thread, but I was thinking, since a couple of my friends and I like building things, if we have any types of cover could you use it at the field? We had built a really nice bunker out of plywood which it able to support itself and has flap up windows. It was built awhile ago but has been worked on a little at a time. There's also another piece of cover that stands up on it's own also with a flap up window. It's really cool and was wondering if we could use em?

Sure, if you can find a truck large enough to carry the stuff there we'd love to have it. We'll place it where it needs to be placed, but its always good to have some more quality cover. Thanks for the offer!

I'll see if I can somehow bring it to operation meltdown if that's ok..

Great. I've also opened up all the older threads, since there's some stuff that really does belong there. Sorry they were closed before-I didn't even know it.
