KIA CARDS
GB's MEDIC RULE by nick gervin & rick gervin

The KIA CARD system is a new medic system designed for large scale operations. The system is used to collect a casualty number for both teams at the end of a large 1 or 2 day scenarios. The system borrows many of the familiar concepts of Bo's wounded rule. The KIA CARDS and system was created by BORNDEAD and MOSES of the Minutemen of Massachusetts. Feel free to use this system at your discretion. We ask you, If you use are cards do not alter or change them in any way shape or form and please give proper credit to the system creators. If you have any question feel free to ask here or PM me. Below is an example of a KIA CARD. It is enlarged for viewing proposes. The suggested size for the cards is 5x4. All players need to carry 1 to 2 cards depending on the length of your scenario.

Medic Rules and Respawn
. Each side will appoint 2 medics.
. Each medic will cary a satchel of arm bands and a hole puncher.
. All participating players will cary HIT CARDS, RED RAG and a WATCH.

1. When a player is hit for the first time it is considered a wound.

2. The wounded player will have to call out HIT and take a seat at the location he was shot.

3. The wounded player then starts / marks his watch for 10 minutes penalty.

4. At this time the wounded player should place his red rag on his head or at the end of his gun
so the enemy may see it.

5. A wounded player IS aloud to call out enemy position to team mates or speak to enemy's as long as the player is wounded.

6. Additional hits to the wounded player will not “kill” the person, only annoy them - they are considered part of the playing field. If one is wounded they should make attempts to stay low and out of the line of fire.

7. During the 10 minuet time penalty, If an "OPFOR" (opposing force) advances on a wounded player and places a hand on his shoulder: The "wounded player" is now "dead" The dead player must have his KIA CARD marked by the closes team medic then head back to respawn. Well returning to your teams respawn your red rag should be visibly placed on your head or at the end of your gun as so the "OPFOR" may see it.

8. A wounded player may not fire his/her weapon for any reason.

9. If a wounded player is not aided by a medic in the 10 minute penalty time frame the player is deemed "dead" and should refer to rule #15.

HOW MEDICS AID WOUNDED PLAYERS.

10. Medics may move wounded players in the following way: The wounded player must place a hand on the shoulder of the medic. Once contact is established the medic may move the wounded to safety to aid him. The wounded players hand can not brake contact with the medic at any time. If the wounded and medic do brake contact, the wounded player must take a seat at the location of lost contact.

11. Medics must aid all HIT team mates.

12. The medics must tie a arm band around the HIT player and ask him for his HIT CARD.

13. The medic must then fill out the HIT CARD, marking where the player is hit. Once this is done the hit player may return to action as a wounded soldier with arm band on.

14. If a player that is wounded with an arm band on is hit he is killed "KIA". The killed player will then walk over to the nearest team medic with his hands in the air and red rag displayed then turn in his arm band and have his HIT CARD marked with a KIA.

15. All KIA players will have there KIA CARDS filled out by your team medic as a "KIA" then walk out to their respawn with there hands in the air and red rag displayed. Once at respawn they may respawn at will.

Well let me know what you guys think? If you think I missed something feel free to add your suggestions. Remember this system was designed to supply a large scale scenario with wounded and killed in action rates of an overall operation. At the end of the op participating players turn in there KIA CARDS to the game host were they may do an official count. I do "NOT" think this system should be used to show case an "MVP" of any scenario. Nor should it be flaunted or posted on an personal players performance or lack of. The card system was designed for TEAM statistics only. The Minutemen of Massachusetts along with the Boston Airsoft Squad have tested this system and found it to work well with mature and honorable airsofters. Not only dose it work but it simulates first aid and it's real fun to be the medic for your team. Its makes the medic role a vital one for your teams progress. So let me know what you guy's think? Also the shorten name for this system is GB's Medic Rule. (GB as in Gervin Brothers)

I actually really like this rule, it adds a whole other layer of strategy to the game. Besides, having someone on your team (fast runner with a compact gun) be the appointed medic is not only cool, but fairly realistic. It can even be modified for different sized games (1 Medic per team) or different times (5 minutes until dead, etc). At first I was wondering why head wounds weren't an auto KIA, but Helmets and other complications help explain that as well.

Anyhow, I'll try to see this rule finds its way into more of the games I play in, and will make sure to give credit to the creators.

Now, to find out medic...

Medics have been used before, with some confusion. I like these rules, like the medic having to spend some time to check out the wounded's injuries. 10 minutes may be a bit long.

I think its a cool way to monitor how many times people get killed as well as where they got hit.

One question: With Bo's wounded rule, you have to have a player in contat with you until the 10 minutes of a players time are up (or just having them run over and grab you in the final ten seconds). Does the medic have to wait till the wounded player's ten minutes are up to give him the arm band and fill out his card, or can he do it immeaditely when he grabs the player?

Gundy: I think 10 minutes is a good time for medium to large games, and 5 minutes for smaller games. Reason being is that when I play at Tolland you get hit and getting hit actually means something, because you're out of action for 10 minutes. At RPC, you can get hit and tagged back in by a medic a second later, rendering the hit useless, because you're back up and playing again. 10 minutes may seem like a long time, but it really goes by pretty quick.

On the whole though this is a great system and will add a whole new level of realism to airsoft. Great job!

The miedics can move a wounded player as long as he/she has physical contact with the wounded at any time. but the wounded player has to wait 10 minutes before entering combat as a wounded combatant. The medics may aid the wounded at anytime they see fit (hopefully under cover and safety)

I'm glad to see some good replys.

yes the medic are a primary target. kill the medics and you slow the OPFOR team down.
